What is "ICE?"
ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. It is a system in which people create an emergency contact list in their Cellular phones using the keyword "ICE"
Emergency and Safety Officials are trained to look for victims ICE contacts.
It helps them to locate next of kin and learn important health information to
more
effectively treat accident victims. This method is especially useful if victims
are
unconscious or unable to answer questions.
How does this work?
Create two contacts in your mobile phone using the headings ICE1 and ICE2.
In those two listings, save the names and phones numbers of the people you
would like Emergency personnel to contact in case you are in an accident.
Your ICE contacts should:
Understand the meaning of ICE and give their permission to be listed.
Know your complete, up-to-date medical history, including medications and
supplements you are currently taking, food and drug allergies, and the names
and numbers of your physician and other regular healthcare providers.
Be willing and able to meet you at the hospital
You should continue to use any other identifier's you may be using such
as: emergency wallet card,
medical alert bracelet, in addition to your ICE contacts.
